Default Am I just being Tightfisted

Browsing the net this morning and seen todays Groupon offer for a days flyfishing at Leadburn Manor trout fishery (just outside Edinburgh) Click Here . Thought I would give the fishery website a look. Is it just me being being a tightfisted Scot thinking the prices are rather expensive ?

I've fished for many years but don't think I've came across a trout fishery as expensive as this. £6.00 per hour so a 8 hour session will cost £48.00, then each fish you keep has to be paid separately, rainbows £3.00 per lb, Brownies £5.00 per lb. I don't think I'll be visiting this place soon.

The prices at Leadburn Manor are talked about quite often between fishermen at other venues in the area and from what I can gather most people say they will not go there because of the prices.

If the owner of LM wants to have a good customer base then he needs to look at his pricing because it is very expensive in comparison with other waters.

Plenty other places to fish boys, just give it a miss. Butterstone is about to realise what happens when you put yourself beyond the reach of th everyday angler too.

There are too many other options that are better value than this to seriously consider going there. £6 an hour before you even start paying for fish is very high.

If it's just your normal run of the mill fishery then yes i think that's well expensive,A big fish water like Dever Springs charges £70 for four fish and that fishery could work out more expensive than that if you latched onto a whopper and wanted to keep it

that does seem beyond what is a general pricing, its like a place called bibury trout farm where the general public buy trout food to feed owners fish. we all know to run a good fishery is an expensive operation but if you caught 2 average fish at leadburn in 6 hours would nearly be £70 you think. i think an average day on most lake trout fisheries is £35 for 4 fish in the south which is reasonable. maybe the owner can let you know how he can justify those prices or group together and tell him you will boycott his fishery. as a note there is another fishery near here that does not get many fishers why too many rules of fly types banned. what are these trout lakes for to catch fisherman or fish.

I have just purchased two of the £19 deals for me and a mate from Groupon. I normally fish catch and release when I am not out with my club so I will give it a bash and report back on the forums.

It's a rip-off! Too "commercial."
