For floating lines only - I have tried a few different lines including the ones mentioned above - my favourite (with the least memory in freezing cold conditions) is the Scientific Anglers line. Comes at a price though.

Default Fly lines

Hi, I have tried several over the years and suggest the following

Preferred:
Snowbee xs ivory - great line no memory casts very well but marks easily and does not seem to last very long
Cortland 444 - great line no memory casts well and seems to last fine. Good coating
Hardy (not sure which specific model) great line no memory casts well and seems to last ok.
Scientific anglers some memory but only a little. Lasts well.
Shakespere glider - good budget line some memory lasts ok

Ones ot avoid (in my opinion)
Airflo (although not tried them recently ) have shocking memory

Given a choice I would go for Snowbee or Cortland although they are expensive. I will be trying the Pitsford pirate lines next as they seem to have fantastic reviews and are great value.
Hope this helps
Steve

the arbour size of your reel is another consideration for coiling, as is twists put in when winding the line onto the reel, if you peel the line of the side of the spool onto the reel it does a good impression of memorised coiling.

Go with the Pirate! I've fished with one of his lines in below zero weather a few times and never had a problem aside from de-icing my line guides.

Take care

Normally most of my small stream trouting is done with a silk line ,dont like using these in Zero air temperatures so out comes my pirate line stored on a old fashioned small hardy marquis ,fishes well with no slinky coils ,lasts well and superb value for money.
