Default advice on bait

as ive said im new to the sport, ive been a few times but on sort of organised trips with companies and stuff and just loved it but would really like to get into fly fishing on my own, ive organised a day to go in late feb with a good friend of mine whos really into fishing etc, he knows all about it but id like to be as kit ready as i can for the day as i dont want to be a nuisance to him. the only bait i have though is this box of black spiiner bait that my dad got me w few years ago when we went on a fishint trip together, kinda like this Black Spinnerbait - Compare prices on Twenga.co.uk but alot older! now when i was on these trips, everything was done for us, (they werent very good educational days but good for experiences i guess) so i dont know if i can use this spinnerbait? cos when i search fly fishing bait these thigns come up fly fishing bait - Google Product Search that look more like feathers...

Default hi

hello, welcome
i'm sure you,ll get loads of responses to your question as spinning is not what we are about (err...well some may be, there are always differences of opinion here!) but i reckon they'll lean towards preffering the latter - i guess the gear you choose will depend on where you intend to fish and for what species?
good luck - it's a great venture

Hi .Depending on the water you go.you may find that lt will be fly fishing only.where your tackle(spinnerbaits) will not be allowed. On the other hand you may go to a all method fishery where bait/spin fishing are the main methods.
You really need to ask your mate.what will be allowed.Because if you just turn up with the wrong gear your going to have a very short bad day out.
