Default Stripey lines

Any ideas on how to create a stripey fly line, like you see a lot of the pro lads using when doing demos ?

The first fly line I ever bought was a cortland 333 zebra line. The head was black and white stripes, looked great when casting and on the water, but I never got on with the 333 as a line.

I've got a line in white and want to stripe it up. Can I just do it with a pantone pen, or will this damage the line in anyway ?

I mark my lines with a water proof marker pen. I can't think of the name of them, well I can it's on the tip of my tongue. But can't quite remember. Something like sheepy, or sharpey or something like that.

As an aside I've just bought some plastikote glow in the dark paint, which I intend to spray an old line with. Just for fun at night.

(probably no help at all but my hearts in the right place)

Cheers guys.

Went down the pantone pen route .... Word of warning to anyone trying this:

Don't use too much and make sure it's dry before reeling in !!
I strung the line up in the garden and painted some very nice, sharp, thick black stripes along the front 35 ft. Left it alone for 10 minutes to dry out and then had 20 minutes of casting practice after which I figured all would have dried out nicely so reeled in. I was back in the house before I noticed the black fingers !
Ended up having to strip the line back off the reel and rub all the stripes down to get rid of the excess ink.
So, I started with a white line and now have a black and grey striped line with a speckled running line .... all very "urban Camo" !!!

Still, worked fine when I fished with it yesterday.

black sharpies are very permanent and dont fade the way others do, green and red are not as good, less than a quid in asda, flat nib ones, or cut them for 'crispness of stripe'

if you cast at just the right cadence you can induce epileptic fits

That's a true fact, about the stripey lines that may induce epilepsy. Hence the reason that French onion sellers. Are not aloud to use trampolines in populated areas of France.for fear of an epidemic of fitting.

Also the technique of jumping up & down really fast, whilst wearing a stripey top.Was used to subdue opponents, in the early days of MMA.

MMA for those not in the know is Mixed Mime Arts, deadly martial art of the Dordoyne region. Mainly uses techniques such as "The glass wall" "Peeping around wall".

I bought a pack of 4 one each of black, red, blue and green for a quid in my local pound shop . Just wondering how long would it take to put a stripe of each colour on a line maybe I had better go and have another

about 10 seconds per stripe when you get the hang of it, best done sober, then you can terrify fish at 200 yards with just one cast
