Thumbs up

Welcome to the Forum redial.

I use an old 7' 9" #4 outfit for similar situations, some go shorter.

Have a read of: Small Stream Fishing - Fly Fishing Forums lots of good ideas there.

If you haven't got an outfit that can be adapted they you might want to check out the Fladen Vantage rods. They do a 7' #3 that will be fine for brook fishing for not a lot of money.
I have a Shakespeare professional DT4F line ice blue colour surplus to requirements. It has been used about a dozen times so plenty of fishing left in it. Yours FOC if you want it, PM me. It will be fine overlining the above rod on short casts.
Regards,
Dave.

That will be perfect.

You can find out about some of the fishing you are about to do here.

Click over to July and start at the beginning to get a fuller picture.

Do you have a floating line? If you have and it is a bright colour, my advice would be to change the colour to a dark brown. Have you got a long handled coarse fishing landing net? Polarised spectacles? A drab coloured hat with a brim? You don't need much else...

Richard, is it really necessary to target new members with your subjective opinion on the need for drab lines when dry fly fishing in an attempt to get a sale? Can't you leave it in the retailer section where it belongs?

Exactly! And Olive is nicer than Brown! But the colour wont matter when you've got in-to the grove so to speak! I have a 7ft, Fladen Vantage! Bought it when they first came out, a few years back. Real value for money and they fish nicely.

Have a look on the "Small Streams Thread" Plenty of information (re Brook style fishing) on there.

Welcome to the forum BTW.

Save your money. Stick with the 9 foot it will be perfectly adequate until you have more experience of where you are going to be fishing.
