Default Good flies for Scottish lochs?

My friend and I are going to the Assynt region at the end of May. We'll probably be fishing the banks of the smaller lochs, Any ideas what are good flies for this time of year?

Thanks

Hi,

Having fished that area a few times I would suggest traditional wets, bibio, kate mclaren, black pennel, snatchers and such like but also dont be scared to use a reasonably large bushy muddler type pattern stripped across the top of the water or we even had success using an orange coloured deer hair sedge.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
Having spent many years fishing highland lochs I would suggest taking a few baby dolls.polystickles and Jersey herds ..Any fry patterns are always worth a try when things are quiet...it has worked for me on numerous ocassions...other to that Peter Ross and Cal have given an excellent choice of flies..to your success.

Kindest regards
JOHN

Agree with all above- and recommend a Sweeny Todd on a l/s 10 too- can throw up big fish, especially in a good blow.

Default pearly kate

Fish the lochs when i can too, youv got all the best patterns but i would add one more, i know there are many variants around and folk have their prefs but i find a pearly bodied kate mclaren does a bit better than standard, in my experience anyway, hope you enjoy your sport and tightlines
