Default Trouble with braided loops, knot advice please

Hi,
I fished with an intermediate line the other day for the first time - used floaters until then - and had two braided loops come off on me with fish on the other end, so lost two flies, two leaders, two loops and two fish!
One of the loops was a Stillwater, the other I'm not sure, both had the sleeve over them, and the line is a clear Greys intermediate line.
Now I know people will say to use a needle knot but the line is so thin I can't get a needle up through the core (and my eyesight isn't that great for close-up work).
So, I was wondering if anyone can recommend a secure knot to use to attach the leader to this intermediate line, preferably something that can be tied easily on the bank with frozen hands (temp never got above zero while I was out yesterday ).
I really enjoyed using the intermediate line so don't want to give up on it, particularly as the trout seem to be lying low at the moment.
Thanks in advance,
Steve

A tiny dab of Superglue at the end of the sleeve should stop any problems.....

This works well enough for me, for sinking lines. I use it to attach a short length of heavy mono to the end of the line, in which I tie a loop. I push a bit of silicone tubing over the whole thing to tidy it up.

I don't like saying this. But If you had secured the Braid properly you would not have lost it.
You cannot needle knot a mono core line
There is nothing wrong with braided loops,if you just use a bit of care when Installing them.
If you must use the plastic sleeve.then it has to be superglued.
I do not use the sleeve.I whip mines in place.
If you do not have the tools to do this, then get some fine mono and do a nail knot at the end of the braid, and put a tiny drop of s/glue on the knot.
This will never come loose.
Badly made commercial loops(there are many) do not have the loop secured. to the main braid.A tiny drop of S/Glue sorts this.
A well know shop.sold lines with free loops for a while. The braid was far to big for the line. This has now stopped.

Hi

That happened to me once now what i do is either use a grey's loop if the line has a braided core and not mono or instead of using the sleeve provided with loops a far far better way is to whip the braided loop on to the fly line where the sleeve would go ( use a tiny tiny spot of zap-gap to smooth and neaten things up ).Either one of these is secure and you wont loose any more loops/leader/fly/fish

Neil

Jim beat me to it ( whip on loop )

Don't worry Jim, I'm not that easily upset!
The first braided loop WAS superglued on when I was preparing for my trip some days before, but the second wasn't as I'd left the Zap-a-Gap in the car on the day, was frozen half to death and wasn't really thinking clearly.
While I was waiting to see if anyone replied - and thank you very much for all your helpful suggestions - I did some searching online and decided to try a nail/tube knot to see how that holds up. It seems very strong and I'll put a dab of glue on it just to secure it more.
Cheers guys,
Steve

whipped on every time.....
more secure...Make sure there is enough braid on the line to anchor it....common fault.
smoother for passing through top ring
hi viz tread can double as indicator
the plastic tube can cause premateure wear on the line just behind it

a wee dab of waterproof s/glue secures i also make my own loops dont trust the bought ones.
