Default Fishing trip from norway to Scotland

Hi i am new to this forum and hope someone can help me.

I am planning a fishing trip to Scotland, and i wonder if someone could help med with a few details. We are 5 Norwegians who want to have a weekend in river Tweed, we will probably stay in Peebles, or if anyone have a better suggestion?

We do both Salmon and Trout fishing, we are going to travel the last week in May, could we expect good waters this time of year?

If anyone could give us some advise i would be whery happy

Best Regards
Viggo

Probably not so good for the Salmon Fishing especially by peebles at that time of the year, but the trout fishing may be very good....

Have a look at fish tweed:-

FishPal - Scotland - Tweed - Home

or the Peebleshire Angling Club site:-

Peeblesshire Trout Fishing Association

There are others on here who know the Tweed much better than me though.

Viggo,

Welcome to the forum and hopefully Scotland. I have followed your post since it's inception. In your post you say you are looking to fish the Tweed at the weekend but none of the previous posters have advised that there is no Sunday fishing for salmon in Scotland. It is illegal. This is critical to know if your effort is to be concentrated over the weekend.

As to which river , it all depends on availability of beats and how much you are prepared to pay. No one can predict the river or weather conditions for your visit. Suggest that you Google the various salmon rivers in Scotland convenient to your arrival point/destination in Scotland then once you have made your selection, come back to the forum for guidance or advice on your choice.

I understand that the season varies in the Scotish rivers, it is like that in Norway also. The biggest problem is that when you travel you have to decide where to stay and where to fish, so you must pick a place to fish.
So i think we are going to concentrate on trout fishing, in fact for me trout fishing is the most appealing and relaxing fishing method anyway.

Best Regards

What kind of size should we expect in upper tweed, in my trout river it is not unusal to catch 14 - 17 inches fish. It is not the size that matters, but it is nice to know anyway

Hi Viggo, also there is no sunday fishing on upper tweed, as for the size of trout most would be around 3/4lb-1lb there is some larger trout to be had but they dont rise very often, most of the big trout around peebles are caught earlier in the season, but hey you might be fortunate fishing further down towards st boswells is better around may/june. fly to aberdeen.
fish the dee for salmon and sea trout, is famous for spring runs of salmon, is still very good in may.

FishPal - Scotland - Dee - Reports

then try the sister river the don for brown trout.
is superb in may, is one of the best trout rivers in scotland in may

FishPal - Scotland - Don - Home

both rivers are minutes from aberdeen.
