Default 4 piece Vs 2 piece rods

Could it be a marketing ploy just so they can fit twice as many in the container coming from China

Default 2v 4

You are probably right lol,

I must admit i have always prefered 2 piece rods as apposed to 4 , I owned and stupidly sold a couple of Sage xp rods and have regreted it since.

I also feel the action is totally differant so 2 piece gets my vote

cheers

Personally - I prefer 4 pieces as they are just easier to transport.

I have a few 2 piece rods and they can be a pain to fit in the car and cannot fit in the boot which I am not happy about if I have to pop to the shops after fishing as they are on plain display (the wary Saffa in me)

Ha Ha!
I suspect that the move to 4 piece rods has been 'market' rather than 'production' led as a 4 piece will be more expensive to produce than a 2.
Personally I prefer 2 piece rods for 2 reasons. First being that they take half as long to put together, second being that they always feel better. For some reason people want to buy a rod that packs down into shorter sections so our illustrious rod manufacturers have obliged and spare no small amount of printing ink telling us that their 4 piece rod casts and fishes just a good as the 2 piece it is replacing. Me think that they do protest too much...
I had (possibly still do somewhere) a 1 piece spinning rod that was the smoothest casting machine I've ever encountered.

if you walk any distance a 2 piece rod is not really an option, a 4 piece fits perfectly down the side of a 45L rucksac.

Yeah! but try flying with a one piece spinning or similar rod!

Bringing my beautiful Purglas light tackle rod out from SA was nigh impossible was I refused to leave it behind!

I personally haven't noticed such a huge difference in style between 1/2/3/4 piece rods that outweighs the benefits of portability.

That said, there is something beautiful about that single, unbroken, piece of carbon/graphite/fibreglass that stirs the soul

I reckon a 2 piecer is a better rod to fish with, I'm forever lining up rings on a four piece. I find after catching and a fish and side strain, they go out of alignment. Im not too keen on forcing the tip section down tight either. Yip, 2 piece for fishing with and a four piece for transport.

I own 2,3 and 4 piece rods,i don't think there is much difference in it the way the 2 & 3 piece fish. But i do agree the 2 piece rod is a pain in the ass to cart around so when traveling along comes the 3 or 4 piece.

Three and four piece fly rods mean I can take my silly impractical sports car fishing instead of my wobbly bus of an estate car. I have also bought a four piece ten foot Sonik spinning rod, meaning I can enjoy driving to other sorts of fishing too
