Default Clegg Hall

Anyone fished Clegg Hall near Littleborough lately, or heard any reports on how it's fishing and to what methods?

I had the same problem finding their site, but found this link which seems to be a different provider.

I drove past in early December I think it was, before the weather kicked in, and folks were fishing.
Can only suggest you phone if thinking of visiting

Default Clegg Hall

Managed to get through on the phone after 3 attempts. Was told ponds still frozen over with water on top. Asked about web site link being dead. He was not aware. Said he hadn't been on it for a while. Said he'd have a look.
The "Moonfruit" site is not the latest one.

Hi Mate

Yes, it was a fantastic place to fish and very underated, in fact it attracted many anglers who were disallusioned with the egg fly float fishermen at that place futher up the road.

I sent Mick a message via Facebook but he never responded. I am not sure if Mayer Brothers had it (the construction guys near by) or whether it was someone else. Acid House went up there and met an old boy who might have had something to do with it, but I am not sure.

Let me know how you get on as I would love to fish there again, as would a few others on here.

Chris

Sorry to say Clegg Hall Fishery is now closed down. Called today to fish, saw the owner / caretaker, he said the rent is up for grabs at the right price. Such a lovely spot what a waste!

It’s been closed for months.
It’s a fab place when on form and I don’t mean when easy.

It was dug in a very boggy field and is totally man made but it’s just so natural to fish the bottom pond the big fella himself could have made it.
The problem is the slow water turn over in the summer. It has a tendency to weed up very quickly with hair algey. Clearable but only with lots of constant hard work.
I feel for the last guy who had it. He was a diamond but you can’t run these things just for love so he gave it up.
To me its one of the best venues in the county 'and I don’t like still waters'. I rarely fished the top pond due to it just being another mud pool packed with new stockies but the bottom lake was just good fun to work.
This water could be a goer again with the right marketing and a warm welcome as some of the other local waters are a little clinical. It’s just about bums on seats and getting the word out.
Last time I went the (unofficial) 'caretaker' allowed me to fish for free as Id made the effort but it is closed and owned by a local farmer so don’t just turn up and fish or should I say poach.
