Default new WF4F line?

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking about buying a new WF4 floater soon as the one I've had on for the last few years is finally beginning to look a bit tired. I was thinking about trying a pitsford pirate line as I've heard good things about them on the forum - how do they match up to snowbee XS as that's what I've used up until now?

Cheers,
Eric

I'd like to think my lines can compete with the Snowbee XS for a lot less money, some people prefer mine, some people prefer the Snowbee, although I also would value peoples opinions because the only way to improve is to listen to feedback.

One thing, although almost identical in colour, mine have a different taper design.

The Pirate.

The pirate lines certainly have a good following. I havent used them myself, but I've never heard a bad word said about them.
They come with one major advantage ... you can speak to the manufacturer (see above) and get proper advice and the truth about the lines rather than getting the usual sales pitch that the major companies will give you.

I've just got some of the GT140 lines from Barrio and can't speak highly enough of them. Totally different taper to the XS, but they also do a WF that looks to be similar to the snowbee.

Having found this forum rather recently and read a lot of the comments on lines I would certainly recommend spending your money with someone like pirate or barrio. I beleive that because these guys are anglers and their business isn't as big as the major companies, the care, attention to detail, quaility control, service and aftersales from these guys means that you end up with a far better product. Just flicking through this site will bring up all kinds of issues that people have had with the major manufacturers yet you will not find one comment aginst pirate or barrio that says "maybe mine was from a bad batch" !!

I really like the Rio Gold. Tempted to try the Windcutter II this season, going on Rookstorms recommendations.

Used Snowbee xs lines for years, but had a few ones that were rubbish, rough coating, bubbles in the line.

Have now switched to Rio lines and am happy enough with them.

Default windcutter

The make up of a windcutter2 is the body of the line is size heavier and the front taper is a size lower strange but certainly works on fast rods, ie 5wt line has 6 weight body 4 weight front taper
