Default Unforgetable Fishing Days out

Hello Chaps ,
As the title above says , i would love to hear of Unforgetable days oot

P.s Good and bad ,,

I will start with a quick one from me lol

Was away fishing with my late dad and his friend and my mum ,and on the way home we decided to try a spot of fishing from inverary pier ,,

Had never fished for mackeral before so was very excited as i was a only a young boy ,
Anyway we were hammering the mackeral on the pier and i was loving it , fish after fish after fish ,,

At this point the pier was getting extremley busy with tourists who were amazed at the amount we caught ,

Always remember my old man telling me to stop trying to yank the fish straight from the water onto the pier Did i listen to him

Anyway i remember playing a fish and i tryed to yank it from the water when all of a sudden my 38g coster came flying over my head

All of a sudden there was a thud and a scream and i thought no i have hit one of the tourists but to my horror, the coster was stuck in my mums forehead I dropped the rod and ran off the pier screaming with my old boys mate chasing after me

My poor mum was rushed to the local doctor who removed the treble hook
from my mums head ,,She was fine and we still laugh at it today

So all in all no more mackeral fishing for me

Mines very similar Edd, I was about 11 and just starting on my fishing adventure and my teacher at school was mad keen so arranged for a group of us to have a weeks fishing at the end of term as a sort of treat.

Anyway we were all lined up on the bank of the river (Esk I think it was ) and one of the lads was trying to cast a toby and put his rod to the side and swept it forwards and hooked the youngster next to him in the back of the thigh . Damn you should of heard him shout, off to hospital he went to get the treble hook removed, some 30 odd years later I cannot remember the lads names concerned but do remember his shouts such language from a kid

Okay firstly a bad one,

Not fly fishing I'm afraid but was went out sea fishing on my mates boat when I was about 15, just the two of us. We travelled 2 hours to get to the wreck we were going to fish, we hadn't even wet a line and the engine ran out of fuel - my mate then somehow managed to drown me in diesel while he refuelled it straight from a barrell. So by then I was soaked through to the skin with diesel, next we start the engine again - a very loud bang this time and yes you've guessed it, totally blew this time. We were stranded in the middle of the sea and to top it off, it started chucking it down and the wind was getting up. In the end we had to radio for help and luckily a lifeboat was doing a training exercise nearby so they gave us a tow back to the nearest port. I was still soaked in diesel, and we didn't have a fish to show for it I should have gone trout fishing that day!

another unforgettable day partly good, partly bad.

I was 14 yrs old and went spinning for trout at my local reservoir, I had never caught a fish bigger than 2lb back then and I hooked and landed a 8lb rainbow - I was chuffed to bits. When I got home though I learnt my grandmother had just passed away that very morning, so while I was obviously upset it was as though it was gods way of softening the blow by allowing me to catch the big fish, almost like a special goodbye. Still remains unforgettable to this day.

And lastly more of an unforgettable day in an amusing way.

Me and a couple of mates were fishing on a pier for flounder and there was another pier opposite about 80 yards or so away. Another of our mates was on the opposite pier fishing away, so we started having a casting competition. Only thing is one of the lads actually hooked the lad on the opposite pier in the backside, there was an almighty scream from the other pier! Luckily he wasn't hurt but I think we were all in stiches laughing anyway.

Cheers.

I was mackie spinning on scarborough pier age about 12 it was bank holiday weekend and there were hoards of tourists I was with my mate and I was reeling in my toby when a sodding great herring gull swooped down and grabbed it . I had to play the damn thing while it was flying about it was like a damn great squarking kite, and as It got nearer it was shitting everywhere we were covered in the foul smelling stuff, When I got it reeled in eventually my mate got it held down and I had to get the spinner out of its beak. Well every time I got near it it pecked me soon We were both covered in **** and my blood and I remember at this point there was a big crowd of visitors surrounding us. a woman leaned over us and said " you wont hurt it will you lads" I swear an eagle would have been easier to handle.

Eventually I got the hook out, When my mate let the thing go it stood there for a few seconds looking like it was ready to go another ten rounds. It flew in the air squaked and flew of we stood there covered in blood **** and regurgetated fish.

happy days
