Default Killer Shrimp

As I run a small fishery I've just been officially notified by United Utilities that the Killer Shrimp has be identified in Grafham Water. This is the first time this shrimp has appeared in this country. It kills our native shrimp, small fish, and fly life. It has spread accross western Europe in the last ten years. The danger is that anglers could transport it unwittingly from one fishing area to another. How real is this threat and what as anglers should we be doing?

Well, United Utilities are quick off the mark, aren't they!!! From last spring to now....wish their bills were at that speed.

As this creature is a real threat to waterlife (although it seems that trout love them so short-term effect may not be bad) I can only suggest that fishery operators operate same systems as Anglia Water.

Regards Peter

Hi

If you search "shrimp" you will come across quite a few threads on this forum on this subject, from a few months ago. Should find a bit of info there.

Glad to know United Utilities have responded to the threat with urgency.
