Thumbs up Goals for 2011 ?

Hi all and a happy new to you, im new to this forum and finding it very useful and intresting, im living in the south wales area and mainly fish the river Neath and sometimes the Tawe, although through the close season i do enjoy wetting some flies in the still waters around this area.

Anyway i thought id post a thread to get people involved and share some of their fly fishing goals for 2011, be intresting to see as anglers what we have in our sights for 2011, here's some of mine .....

1, Beat my personal best of 12.6lbs salmon on the fly.
2, Catch a double figure brown on a fly. ( still water for that one i think )
3, fish a Loch in scotland - ever since i was a little boy watch Paul Young on discovery channel this is something ive wanted to do, seems so peaceful and beutiful up there.
4, Try and get out to alaska to do some fishing - ive said this one for last few season and still havnt got around to it, i live in hope !!!
5, Try to enjoy my fishing more, sometimes im so involved with trying to get that fish i foget where i am and dont take in the scenery and the surroundings and before i know it, its time to go home,

Well think thats about it for now, look foward to reading through some of your threads and browsing the photograph section.

All the best for 2011 and tight lines Ryan.

Hi Ryan

Here's mine:

1. To fish more often than I have managed in the last year;
2. To become a better river fly fisherman;
3. To catch a wild brown trout in the River Cole, smack bang in the centre of Brum.

Hope you manage to get out to Alaska this year!

This year I plan to catch a wild river brownie of over 4lbs. Had fish bigger than this before but not for many, many years.

I don't really "do" fishing goals for the year, or at least not specifically.

We'll see what the year brings, every year is different and fishing here is dictated mainly by what the weather and conditions present.

In 2010 we had an nearly ideal early spring trout season with very slow snowmelt such that the rivers stayed in shape far longer than they usually do. This winter we've already had more snow than we had all of last winter, so any ideas one has of getting out and fishing will need to be adjusted to include where you can feasibly go. Without resorting to the use of a helicopter, that is.

2010 also brought extreme wet weather in the summer such that the smallmouth fishing never really got going. Here's hoping this year is different, but you kind of have to go with the flow as it were.

Anyway, I'm just hoping for the best as our next little Grouselet is scheduled to arrive in February. Maybe another little angler joining the fold?

Happy 2011.

Grouse

Get out more, fish more, experience new venues and maybe hook-up with a few of the reprobates on here.
