It's a bit disappointing to see the fish being killed. Do they not have laws over there to protect their spring fish as we do in england?

The Drowse is not a C&R river. I personally C&R all the time (apart from the obvious when a fish is bleeding/unable to be retured) but this particular fish, being the first of the season, was being auctioned off with all proceeds going to the RNLI.

I think it should be irrelavent whether or not the river is C+R, I'd have thought this decade would be all about saving atlantic salmon, so surely starting as we mean to go on would be symbolic and set something of an example. It's good to see it going to a good cause though, as opposed to being selfishly taken by the fisherman.

I dont think it is too bad for a fisherman to take a couple of fish per year for the pot- just the ones who kill all their fish- maybe over 10 each year that are the problem... Think the tag system should be cut so every fisherman only gets a couple per year.

Do you honestly believe that would make any difference in the No. of fish killed

I think it would make a bit of a difference. There is always going to be some people who don;t follow the quotas etc. but I think it would reduce the overall numbers killed - by reducing the number of fish taken by the people that do abide by the law.
