Default Fly Fishing Shops - Yorkshire and Lincolnshire

Hi All,

I have been doing a search for shops in South Yorks and Linconshire so that I might be able to take a look at a few vices before I buy.

I've been finding it difficult - I am aware game fishing is a smaller relative to coarse fishing, so am not surprised to find that they are few and far between. Google isn't coming up with much.

I've listed below the ones I'm aware of - hopefully this will help a few newcomers (like me!) who might not know of them, so please add to the list if you can.

Apologies if this is doubling up on information stored eslewhere.

The Fly Fishing Shop, Bakewell - small but well stocked tackle shop, limited range of tying materials. Peter orders in anything you like, and might give you a whisky if you are in their long enough

Billy Clarke, Sheffield - Good selection of rods, reels, and flies. Very small selection of tying materials. Coarse focused.

Bennets of Sheffield - recently closed down.

The Tackle Shop, Gainsborough - good selection of rods, virtually no reels, few flies on offer.

Lincolnshire Fly Shop, Grimsby - Shut down in October.

Toft Newton - fair selection of all fly tackle and flies.

I don't venture Leeds way but hopefully other might be able to offer some insight?

I know the sensible option would be to buy online, and am well aware of those on this very forum who have very good feedback and have prodvided good service to me in the past, who I will be buying from again shortly. However it seems the local tackle shop is dying out and I would be very happy to support them if only I knew where they were!

---------- Post added at 11:17 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:14 AM ----------

Carrilon, Bawtry - Very well stocked game fishing outlet - but erratic opening hours mainly due to their attendance at game fairs etc. Worth calling first before you venture out

Wharfedale Angling Classics in Otley, Leeds is a small shop but seems to have a good selection of tying materials and the staff are very helpful. Worth a call to Steve, I'm sure he could help.

Great little shop, as said here staff are very helpful. It's where I got all my gear to start out and plenty of advice to boot. Good selection of flies and as said plenty of fly tying gear. Decent range of tackle too although sometimes if you want a particular fly line in a particular weight they have to order it in as it's only small.

Darren Lewis, Carrilon is a brilliant little shop and the one I go to all the time but just note (according to their website) that it is shut from 20th Dec to 4th Jan, wouldnt want you to have a wasted journey.

To answer the original post I was at an open day for the relocation of the Yorkshire Game Angling store in Rotherham in early December, seemed very good with loads of choice and a big store so would recommend this too.
