Default Welsh river fly fishing weekend locations???

Hi Folks, I remember a while back that theres a few forum members who rent out accomodation on some real nice parts the welsh rivers, I'm obviously now kicking myself for not bookmarking it...... both me and dad are looking at putting a long weekend of river fluff chucking into the calendar for spring/summer/autum 2011 time.......if anyone has any places they can reccomend on the welsh rivers please let me know......or come to think of it, any reccomendations in england or wales will be interesting to hear about, thanks folks.

The best fishing hotel in Wales is the Gliffaes Country House Hotel
Luxury Country House Hotel, Brecon Beacons, Crickhowell - Gliffaes Country House Hotel
and you can read a little about it on my blog Who's Counting? A Fisherman's Journey | To catch a trout from a river in every county in Britain
under 'Musings #1'
Enjoy

thanks cragie - that sounds just the ticket.....here gos, sorry for the dumb-ass questions......

1) Is this river dee subject to the usual river fishing ban time period, which I thnk is feb-june ish???.....

2) My dad is not too good on his legs, as his knees are a bit shot, is there locations for him to fish where he does not ned to go wading of can generally stand safely on the bank???.....he's not disabled, we just need to be careful.

3) What did you and your mates catch???.....I'm assuming a selection of browns in the 1-2 lb region????......were the fish plentiful or did you really need to work at it.

as you can probably tell I have never fished a trout river before......but am gagging to have a go!!!......any other advice for fishing the dee would be greatly welcomed

hi mate,if your looking for wild browns in the region of 1-2lb then your not going to catch them on the welsh dee although they are in there, when we fished the dee in may the brown's averaged 3/4lb but fought like stink on our 3 & 4wt rods some of the stretches are stocked with trout & some aren't.we fished llangollen which was full of stocked trout which to be honest were a pain at times,we also fished the maellor & bala stretches which where superb fishing with both wild browns & grayling coming to dry flies & small nymphs,i am sure some of the welsh guys on here will keep you on the right road as regards to the fishing i am only giving an insight into my weeks fishing which was excellent.i hope to get back down next season for a week, atb craig.

that sounds brilliant, many thanks, all we really need is a B&B and a few pointers, so I'm sure Jean and her tackle shop can do the rest!
