The following report on some of the fly fishing emporiums is truly unbiased and impartial it comes from somebody who does not fish [the wife] but she now knows what todays fly fisherman requires.
The stickman from york,very very helpful but do allow 6 to 8 weeks delivery unless he has one in stock,on opening it on xmas day it looks fantastic and also very functional cant wait to try it next season will let you know how the wading staff performs.
John Norris once again very very helpful and if he has not got what you want he will try and put you in touch with somebody who has.
Stockport fly fishing supplies this is another company who in the wifes opinion goes the extra mile,very helpful and p and p is very reasonable.
The wife would not hesitate in recommending any of the above and that is high praise indeed because she cannot be doing with getting faffed about.
Now we come to the one she had trouble with"Sportsfish"she looked on the web site and ordered the wychwood bag for waders [looks a nice bit of kit] in stock according to the site,waited for parcel,nothing came ,phoned up and told they are waiting for them to come in should be in in the next couple of days,5 days later she phoned again sorry they wont be in till the 20th or 21st of dec,ok she said cancel the order which they did but she wont be useing them again!!!!!!!!

Interesting to read the above, comparing same to US based 'fly shops, big or small. "You call, they haul." The smaller ones may not have some 'odd ball' thing in stock, and they will tell you same. Could order, but that's usually a monthly thing so ... you're choice. Can get same, but want to wait?

That said, it's interesting to look back at the amount of 'stuff' I've ordered from UK fly shops. You have access to 'things' not seen on my far left of the Pond. Not had an issue with any of the purchases ... from anyone. Never directly talked to anyone of the folks (lots of e-mail exchanges) looking at/tell me about that/have them in stock kind of stuff.

But Credit Cards work anywhere in the World.

Got to say I have had nothing but excellent sales and after sales service from Sportfish.

As above really,been buying stuff of them for more yrs than i care to remember and hand on heart I've never had a issue with them.The one thing i do,do is ring them and not do it online that way i can ask if a item is in/out of stock before i order it.

You know what they say " if it wasnt for bad luck we would not have any luck" lol,looks like the wife was just unlucky,but its a bit of a B**gger if you have got to double check on the phone to make sure that if it says on there site "in stock" a big concern like "sportsfish" should be on top of that.

Didn't say you have to check,i just like to check first that's all,even large company's need time to update stuff

I have just received my latest order from Sportfish. Spot on as usual, have been using them for several years.

Same here i have used them for years and rate them very highly (but since i joined this forum i prefer to order from members)
