Default Sharpes Nets question

Got a Sharpes Errol net with extendable handle today, after reviewing a few positive posts on here. Really happy with the quality. However, the mechanism which controls extending the handle seems to be very light, which leads to it extending with a moderate movement forward. Just wondered whether this is by design or maybe a fault? There seems to be a hole drilled in the handle near the pivot, thought that there might be a small pin missing or something.
