I got your point but I think you should have added something about things that you would have expected to have happened but that haven't to make it a bit easier for people to understand if they weren't able to get it from the original post.
The only one I can think of is never catching a scorpion fish when shore fishing. Dead easy to catch and they have been caught by friends fishing next to me but never by me. Though I do have quite a few octopi to my credit which no one else seems to catch on such a regular basis!

Have a look at some of the IGFA line class records, roll cast - they will really surprise you! My first biggish fish was an 11lb pike on 4lb line. Not so impressive a feat but as a beginner pretty lucky to get it and a reflection of the efficacy of the balanced outfit I was advised to buy. I think that that, some skill and in my example, plenty of luck, makes it possible to land heavy fish on light lines.
