Default Sea Trout in South Wales

Hi All,

Due to a change of employer I'm going to have the opportunity to do some fishing in and around the Cardiff area. I actually work in London but my employer's HO is based in Cardiff and the occasional trip is required.

I fancy trying my hand at some sea trout fishing and wondered if there are any good places in the Cardiff / surrounding area. I understand that April and October are the best times to fish for sea trout?

Also what tackle is required for sea trout?

I'm also keen to do some still water fishing for rainbows, browns etc so any pointers in that direction would be good.

Cheers

Fazzer

October is not a good month for Seatrout.they may have spawned.or are about to.June-July are good.
Your rainbow tackle should do just fine

Most of the rivers that empty into the Bristol Channel support a fair head of Sea trout and most have a club or two - often with VERY reasonable membership fees and superb wild water.

Not easy fishing but good as you'd want - try the Neath, Afan, Tawe or Ogmore.
