Default Are barbel the reason for some members on here loosing their minds

The word 'Barbel'.seems to be causing a few members on the Salmon thread some problems ,I hope it's not infectious.

Highly contagious 3lb - especially after protracted periods of percieved inaction.

As in;

"I'm still waiting for the EA man to confirm my prejudices - it's taking the contagious"

Jim, do you know if the semingly fast expanding Clyde barbel are all Pomphorhynchus laevis infected?

I think I would have thrown in some & smileys rather than myself.

The Yorkshire rivers are all thought to be parasite free. Let's hope they were sourced from there. Makes sense distance wise. Fingers x'd for the Clyde system.

The Hampshire Avon and Dorset Stour were infected bythen legal re-distrubition of Kennet barbel in the fifties, as was the river Severn. Illegal stocking by thoughtless barbel 'enthusiasts' then spread the, always infected, offspring further into Wales and the Wye.

Yellow/orange P. laevis larvae are visible, unmistakable really, in Gammarus pulex kick samples. SEPA will know, unlike some blinkered EA regions.
I'll find some images for this thread tomorrow.
