Default A little help from Scotland

Hi Guys, sorry if this post is in the wrong section but I just wanted to get it noticed.
I have a recipe for turkey stuffing handed down from my grandmother which requires the use of SCOTT'S PIPER OATMEAL. Now for years my mother could get it in the North of Ireland but in the last couple of years we cant seem to get it anywhere and this is where I need help.
Can any of you Scottish guys still get this oatmeal. It came in a box with a piper on the front as far as I can remember. It has been a tradition in our family to make this stuffing as long as I can remember and myself and my mother have tried to replace the oatmeal but to no avail so we would be very grateful if any of you could help.
Again sorry for putting the post here but it would mean allot if we could find this stuff.
Many thanks

It is just called Scott's Porridge Oats now. I'm surprised you can't buy it in your local supermarket though.

You made the same mistake as me, Jedi, or at least I threw you off course

It is OATMEAL he is looking for which is the oats finely milled rather than the rolled oats for making porridge.

It seems to have dropped off the shelves in a lot of places as it only appears in American shopping sites as far as I can see.

I searched the internet and found this site

Oatmeal of Alford

I don't what size oatmeal you require.

My parents used that stuffing but unfortunately I don't have a list of the ingredients.

Could you either post or PM them for me.

Thanks

David

Here's a producer of oatmeal: Hamlyns Oats of Scotland - Contact Hamlyns. We just get ours in health food shops or supermarkets.

I was out today and the local Asda has the Hamlyns Oatmeal on the shelf beside the Porridge but no sign of any other makes.

You could always pop some Porridge Oats into a coffee grinder and make your own. I have never heard of it being tried so if you wreck the grinder it wisnae me that told you to do it

Might just use a ziplock bag and a rolling pin to be on the safe side.....
