Nice Cap't Mike - thanks for sharing. I know where I would rather be right now. I was in San Diego for 8 years and never made it out to the islands - shame on me!

Hennessy,

Are the bones resident on Oahu all year round? It sounds like some of the film was shot on the flat that you see below you on the approach in to Honolulu airport - is this one of the better flats?

I've got some film of me feeding cake to bonefish on Waikiki beach this October - they were taking crumbs right off the top, with some real monsters amongst them. Almost worth the $1000 fine to chuck a fly at them!

Nice film, may have to look you up next time I'm there,

James

Bert the super star shooters can barely fool 10 fish to bite out of 100 that we see most days, and to land bones of this size in razor sharp coral is very tough. This is a varsity game and extremely fun, not about numbers.

We had 6 eats today and only landed 1 about 8#s
Ryan is a guide from Idaho and said it was one of the best fishing days of his life and he does it for a living!

not sure how to download the pictures on here?

Comment was aimed at percentage of shots to land said number of fish.
I know people who have had 8 casts for eight fish on stalked bones up to 8lbs on coral flats, first time out guided professionally.
I can, and often do, return same figures for bigger fish on diy bone fishing.
have had shoals of five or six fish so close leader was still in rod rings!
Aint me being derrogatory cos video of tailing, and taking fish, is superb, just couldnt get my head round your catch rate in those conditions!
regards
bert

Default bonefish

Sorry Bert I meant we see around 100 bonefish a day and have around 30-40 shots usually, some days we land around 10 somedays we get skunked these are all usually very smart fish which makes the experience super fun. I would say that if you came out with me and hooked 8/8 you would get a free trip in fact even if you hooked 4/4 i would give you a free trip, it isnt the part of getting the bites that is that tough but actually landing these big buggas is full of obstacles and really challenging. come take the challenge if you fail you pay double lol

I fished for fun this afternoon with an all star guide from Bowriver Canada, me a and good bonefish buddy, we had each around 15 shots at tailing fish over 8#s and got skunked and had the best time ever. This is most likely the hardest and most rewarding fishery on the planet all within 30ft all in 6" of water and all giant smart bonefish....super stealth, super casts, the best flies and get nothing, its great. But tomorrow me might get 4 each thats this fishery.

Mike

Default bones

How many get away with hooks left in them/ have you taken that into account or tried to rectify it/is that not one of the reasons they are so shy of your hooks
