Default Cressbrook & Litton Flyfishers' Club

Hello has anyone taken a day on Cressbrook and Litton? I am trying to get somebody started with a bit of dry fly fishing and wondered if this is a good place for a beginner. It also states a two fish limit--is this two fish and then C and R?
Any advice appreciated.
thanks

mjg

I've not fished their day ticket water but can confirm that the main C&L fishery is outstanding dry fly fishing, possibly amongst the best in the country, and I see no reason why the day ticket water would be of significantly lesser quality.

The dayticket water is excellent, it is full of wild and some stocked browns and rainbows. It is a rare minute that goes by without one having seen at least a fish rise within casting distance. It is great dryfly water and, if you must, you can fish a nymph.

You can take 2 fish and continue C and R for as long as you want.

Is it suitable for a first time dry fly fisher? yes, the fly life is outstanding but the fish are not gimmes - just as it should be.

Hi Blennyboy,
It's not compulsory to kill 2 fish, many of us here would be happy if you did not. Don't forget, any fish killed have to be in season and meet the EA size limits.
Cheers

Hi Blennyboy,

I've fished the water in question and its a cracking bit of water. Its obviously not open at the moment as its a trout water. If i remember you can use a nymph as well as dry fly which can sometimes be a bonus on certain days. The dry fly action is spectacular though. Only 4 rods a day allowed so make sure you book.

Dean's being a little modest. This should whet the appetite!

But the Dayticket water is no wading (a foot in to allow a cast). The video was shot a little further upstream on the club water.

Default Thank you all

Dear all what a cruel bunch you are. Its -4C at the moment and fishing on such a water seems light-years away, like a parallel Universe—heaven perhaps. What motivation to tie some more BWO.

Thanks

Funny you should mention that, the club's water is known as "St Peter's beat"
