I totally agree with you but it would take someone like Chris Tarrant with his tv. clout to pull this off.

I mentioned filming early on as i thought it would have made for great tv, plenty of footage to be had and the publicity would have been great for the event. C+R also made it more viable. Unfortunately i feel it wasn't pushed hard enough to secure a network this time but it's definately a good option for the future.

Has anyone been watching 'river monsters' with Jeremy Wade? Not usually a fan of his 'that is a run, that is a run, that is a run that is a ruuuuun' commentary, but really enjoying this series. Just enough travel in it to keep it interesting for the wife too...?

I watched the episode about goliath tigerfish and haven't bothered since. I got the feeling that they were stretching about 8 or 9 minutes of actual live footage to fill 20 minutes plus of programme running time. JW just misses the mark for me somehow - not sure why.

It seems as if the way to get fishing on prime time TV is to fold it into a countryside type show with "green" overtones...I am not sure that coverage of a competition would attract general viewers, and plenty more fly fishers don't competition fish than do.
