Default gps boat fishing

reading this months trout fisherman where there is an article using gps to set up the drift of the boat.whats your views on this.is this a step too far?????

I don't see any difference in that than using one to find a remote hill loch or stretch of a river to fish. Just because they are drifting the same stretch as they did before doesn't mean the fish are there or are feeding. It is still a lottery

Not a bad idea if you wanna start and run the same drift again, all dependant on conditions remaining the same though.

Won't ever be used in comps, as electronic devices are banned from matches, even using an ipod, however am sure we'll start seeing GPS cropping up in boats during practice sessions

I have seen them used in Canada on large lakes and were very good in helping in returning to drop off areas and shallows and in some cases finding the lodge.Has anyone any experience of which model to give good results.I'm going to Yukon next year and Xmas seems a good time to get one.
