Default Silly question -

I have a silly question, but would genuinely welcome serious answers if you are able to please.

What is the difference between an "Angling Association" and an "Angling Club" ?

Thanks

Thumbs up

Fly man, welcome to the Forum.

There are also 'Angling Societies'. I too would like to know especially as some no longer seem 'owned' by the members and seem to have aquired directors and such.

not to mention the good old syndicates lets make them a "D".

so for me that's

0 A's
3 B's
a few C's (day tickets)
1 D

I have inquired about one association but the membership is limited and I have a five year waiting list

should we also add societies as an "E"

Dont quote me, or knock me for this answer, but angling associations are generally linked to a river or part of a river, or loch, which they have access to/ownership of for angling, and manage on a cost recovery basis, to pay for rates/access/bailiffs etc for the benefit of their members.
Clubs have no direct access/ownership of water, but organise trips/access to various waters as outings for the benefit of their members, at a cost to the members.
Societies are an amalgamation of individuals and clubs or associations who get together occasionally to further the ends of the society, ie occasional outings arranged for attendance of members!
regards
bert.
