A joint decision between both IMO

Or if a ghillie is involved maybe let him/her choose

Normally the person who draws the engine gets the decision to start with, after 2 hours you can then decide where to fish. Practically though it could be through consultation but if you cant agree you revert to the above.

Most comps will draw who is captain for first period, when drawing names for boat.
some will stipulate how long captaincy is held, ie one hour two etc, if not stated, is up to competitors to decide how long captaincy is held.
captain then decides where to go.
at end of period other competitor becomes captain and decides where to go. and so on.

I had this problem come up at a regional final at Chew. In the end it was the most convincing person who won the debate (me on this occasion), although this was a little tricky to maintain when we motored in the opposite direction to just about everyone else. When we finished first and second the other chap had no complaints though.

However, at the National at Grafham I bowed to the superior knowledge of Bob Church - guess what - we both blanked.

I would suggest that if you have very good knowledge of the venue that you prepare a convincing / persuasive sales pitch on why you should be the boss. If the other person's sales pitch is even better then I guess you'll be happy to follow that expert's lead. At the end of the day, it's about fishing in the best spots - it doesn't matter who decides on how to get there.

Theoretically you get two hours' choice each, but I have never enforced that, most times your destination being a result of your pooled experience on the venue.

If you draw a local specialist, I would recommend giving them command of the boat - this year I had Al Owen on Rutland and Keith Nicholson on Bewl. In both cases, I just told them to take me wherever they liked..................

Made me chuckle Charlie. You should be careful with your words when talking about the Bewl elite!
Cheers pal and hope to see you out there soon.
