Default Other half has been in labour for days...

...which meant I had lots of time to pass so I wondered down to the hospital shop to look at their magazine selection - not one fishing related mag!

Then I spotted it, the thing that would give me hours of satisfaction and allow me to spend more time fishing than struggling at the side of the bank - a £1.79 sewing kit!! As a newbie I struggle with knots, i can just about tie my shoe laces so nail knots and clinch knots just baffle me. Anyway a few internet diagrams and a bit of patience saw me tie all the knots needed right from backing to spool to fly to tippet Here are the knots I have learnt:

Backing to spool - arbour ****
Line to backing - nail knot
Leader to line - loop to loop connection
Tippet to leader - surgeons knot
Fly to tippet - improved clinch knot

I got some really funny looks but I don't care, it was well worth it - here is a picture of my efforts

The bit of blue cardboard is an imrpovised nail knot tool and the needle at the bottom is the fly!!

Just thought I'd share that with you all incase you find yourselves in a similar situation oh and the baby still isn't here!

Rob.

Thats one way to pass the time
I dont have a clue about all the knott names i just tie my lines together like i do when coarse fishing a knott is a knott to me aslong as it holds which hasnt let me down yet haha.

There was tv in the labour room when i girlfriend went in so i just watched that.

hope the baby comes soon and all the best for the future.
