Default Broken rod tip, woe is me...

Just back from a long, very cold day's fishing (caught two lovely rainbows on a black tadpole with a green head) and I'm devastated - I was in such a hurry to get back in the car and get warm that I accidentally closed the boot on my rod, snapping the tip off about six inches from the end.
It's a Greys GS2 9' #6 and I've only had it a few months since first taking up fly fishing in late summer.
I've emailed Greys to see if they can help with a replacement - as it was my fault I'm happy to pay.
Has anyone ever done the same thing? Are Greys usually good on customer service?
What a t*t. Learnt myself a valuable lesson today folks.
Steve

When my Greys broke and it was clearly a faulty rod they got it returned to me within 3 days of sending......

When it was broken and was my fault........it took over a month....

Good luck!!!

Happened to me back in may but with the car door. I had the rod leaning against the side of the door and when I closed the door the rod slipped And broke. Made me feel really stupid and taught me a big lesson.

Like wise car door this year, its hard to describe just how stupid you feel.
Like you have accidently poisoned a trusted old friend or something similar.
I sincerely hope no body tells you to; 'Cheer up its only a fishing Rod'.

Greys are horrendous - wanted the same price £30 plus for tip section of g series 9ft whether i'd broken it (i did dropped it and ran car over it!) or it was faulty. Ended up buying a new rod from tackle discount for 50 odd quid (end of g series range prior to GS2). Just as well - i went on to crack middle section in car door - lesson learnt - put the rod away properly and it won't happen again....well maybe...

Default Broken Rod Tip

Hi Red Devil

I only have Greys rods, various models, and have broken sections to every one. I'm careless but also do a lot of winter fishing when accidents seem to happen. My experience of Grey's service is based on years of broken rods. It used to be £20 per broken section for replacement now its gone from £30 to £40. At £40 you have to ask the question "Is it better to buy another rod?". Some of mine cost over £200 so it's still economic to "buy" another section. It's not a warranty Greys are selling you new sections.
About service this used to be excellent with a rod section coming back within 24 hours of Greys get my broken bits. This is not so now it can take at least 10 to 14 days for a new section to come back.
I have to say I'm devestated when I break a section of one of my well used favourite rods and I am glad there is a replacement option. It's a wonderful feeling when I'm able to put a rod, that is an old friend, back together again and use it.
