Default Gloves for fishing

I suffer from really bad circulation in my hands so struggle in the winter. Don't suppose it will ever stop me fishing but was wondering if anyone knew of any gloves that you can use which are water proof and warm but still allow you to fish? (Don't think I'd attempt tying a fly with gloves on but casting etc should be doable?)

I bought myself a pair of Snowbee neoprene gloves. They are very thin so don't interfere with your grip on the rod. To aid casting, feeling the takes, tying on flies and fig 8ing I cut off the thumb and first two fingers of the left glove and thumb and all four fingers of the right. I'm left handed so a "right" type will need to do the opposite. I find it important to keep the backs of the hands warm as a lot of heat is lost there. I don't guarantee that this method will ensure that your hands stay warm all the time, but it is a whole lot better than no gloves at all.

Welcome. The best of fishing gloves are made from Neoprene, but you would need to get ones that had the seams sealed..

The only gloves I know and recommend ,having used them for years are made by Snowbee.I have used both types as they suit certain conditions. For actual fishing and casting the Lightweight neoprene gloves at around £10 are great. You can still tie a fly on,hands stay warm even if the glove is wet. When casting it is no problem as you have full feeling as the glove is like a second skin.Thumb and forefinger has cut off so you can tie a fly on.

The other is also from Snowbee, called the SFT gloves, slightly more expensive at around £22.These are all covered fingered gloves, again in neoprene and are warm and casting is again no problem.tying a fly on can be done with patience.
would suit your needs.
I have both and use them all winter ,depending on situations, but if fishing prefer the £10 ones and the other are more for working with.

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome Eric, I have the same problem, but I don't find gloves help one iota.
If anything my hands feel colder in gloves than out.

Thumbs up

Welcome to the Forum Eric.

If it's cold I carry 2 pairs of Gore windstopper fleece gloves which I interchange. Simms fingerless gloves with a mitten overcover are also very good, but pricey. I've found fleece keeps me warmer than neoprene.

I have a pair of these:-

Ron Thompson Power Neoprene Gloves [BEK-1300] - £8.99 : Tackleoutlet online fishing tackle, suppliers of angling

(I cannot vouch for the supplier).

They do help a bit in cold weather but fishing with gloves on takes quite a bit of getting used to.

Cheers

Andy

I have tried several types of gloves but didn't like any of them for fishing so got some chemical hand warmers.
