Default line care in winter?

having invested serious coin in a rio bass striper line, now that I have finished pike fly fishing til spring, should i just leave the line on the reel or take it off? Don't usually bother but this one cost a lot and i don't want to renew again for "some time" ! Keith.

Take it off the reel and make up some large loops in it eg. 3ft diameter, leave it flat and it shourld be ok

Good advice, with a couple of add ons!
take it of reel, clean with appropriate line cleaner, or rinse with soapy water, dry out and spray with armor all or simillar plastic/rubber restoration spray, as said make big loops/ but hang it up on coat hanger or simillar in cool dry place away from light. garage wall is good!. Hanging stops line bending as it dries out! gravity takes over!
Next year when putting back on reel, wipe down with armor all again, will be as good as new.
regards

I agree with your suggestion of cleaning but hanging it up isn't a good idea I think. I've only been fishing a year and a half so this only second time I've stored my lines over winter but from the advice I was given by other more experienced fly fishers they said not to do this as it can kink the line.

One other suggestion is to get a bike wheel and take rubber and inner off it and wind the line round that.
