Default Tapered leaders?

Hi all

I have some LEEDA PROFIL premium tapered leader, 5lb 9ft knotless tapered.

The question is what are they for? do i tie them on to my fly line then add a flie? or do i tie it to my fly line then add a few feet of drennan double strength then a flie, or add a few feet of drennan double strength to the fly line then tie the tapered leader then flie? im really not sure and would be really great for the advice.

I have been using drennan double strength straight through and been catching,

cheers mitch

A tapered leader improves your presentation of the fly, applicable for spooky fish and dries and possibly nymphs mainly, its also improves your leader turning over.

You can simply blood knot the thcker end of the tapered leader to loop on your fly line.

Then make a loop in the other end of the leader, perfection loop, surgeons, or leader ring.

Attach to this a suitable length of tippet, drennan double in your case. Then tie our fly to this.

If casting lures or heavy flies make sure your leader is stiff enough for the job.

Dependant on your casting skill and wind. You may be better reducing the total leader length , tippet and taper, back to the length of your rod plus 1 foot.

well my casting is getting better by the day only been fly fishing for about 3 months, not doing to bad with catching paid for 37 fish and caught 32.

I have a 10ft daiwa rod that i use and normally put around 11ft drennan double straight through so i just do the same with the tapered leader, tippet and make it around 11ft.

thanks again

cheers
