Default Spinning with a fly

Has anyone had any luck using a fly on a spinning rod, I know it sounds bizarre but I am struggling to use a fly rod due to a back injury but I can spin with light spinners ok.
I will not be going on commercial fisheries just a tidal river for perch, chub, sea trout, roach, dace and pike. I would rather use a fly rod like I have always done but I am unable to at the moment. I do not want to give up fishing the fly as I really enjoy it.
1)Could I use flies on the spinning rod weighted with shot on the line to get them out and down in the water using nymphs and lures.
2)Or do I have to use a clear bubble for casting weight?
I know some people will not approve of this method as it is not truly fly fishing and I apologise if anyone is offended.

Bubble on the end and 2-3 droppers. It just a modern set up that would have been called an Otter board in times past, favoured by Poachers everywhere. but if needs must then why not.only snag is that it's like playing a wet rag as the bubble deadens the fight.hope your back gets better soon. and you can get back to fly fishing

I've used a fly on a spinning rod fishing in salt water in the Canary Islands.
Used both bubble floats and weights on the line above the fly.

It's a good method particularly during windy conditions when casting a fly line would be difficult. Have taken bass, mackerel, garfish and other species native to the Canaries.

A bubble float is good for fishing on or just under the surface, weights up to a couple of ounces to get the fly down in deeper water.

I've never tried the method in fresh water but can't see why it wouldn't work with the appropriate flies. Fishing is fishing, if the rules allow it have a go.

It's not fly fishing,It;s spinning.
Does loch Glow allow bait fishing.?Spinning ? If so then I can only imagine its because it's deadly.

I love fishing the bubble float with 6 flies when there is a big rolling wave. Just sit back, watch the float and relax with a litre bottle of wine and a smoke.

Bliss.

Its got to be deadly as look how sucessful the bung is on its day the bung is hard to beat although i do appriciate it is not a great method there are better and more challangeing ways to catch fish.

As a matter of fact, I was doing this a lot last summer. i own a small stretch of a very small tributary to the Scottish Dee, but it is impossible to fly fish on it, due to it being surrounded by trees. i tried it out one day, with a small Hare's Ear Nymph, suspended beneath a thingamabobber, with a couple of lead weights so i could cast it out a few yards, I had much success, catching many, very small, brown trout, worked a treat for me! Picture is of a small one I caught using the above method.
