Thumbs up Glasgow Angling Center

I see on here from time to time that GAC get some slating for bad service but credit where credit is due .

I put in an order last Tuesday for a rod and some other bits and pieces and all the items would have been here the Friday if the courier hadn't taken the parcel back to the depot and put it into storage for the weekend saying " consignee is on holiday "

Alex the sales manager was very helpful all along the way in sorting this out , and it turns out there was a free wader bag in with my order that I didn't know I was getting

There was one item that turned out not to be what I thought it was and asked Alex could I send it back for credit on my next order ( value £6.99 ) . He told me not to bother because of the cost of the postage and he would just take that value off my next order , happy days !!

I have used GAC in the past for a few odds and sods and has always been straight forward .

Cheers

Glad to hear you had a good experience from these guys, I had a bad one and never used them again. There are very few places now in the west of Ireland to buy quality fly tying gear, Rod Tye (RIP) had an excellent set up but that's all gone now so I ordered a few capes from them. Two of the capes were absolutly rotton. The thing that annoyed me was that they stank and they were loose ie: no packaging on them. Which means whoever packed them know they were s**t. Anyway there was no issue with getting replacements but it still left a sour taste.

When you have one of the biggest & buisiest tackle shops in Europe there are always going to be the odd dodgy order . I have used them for years , mind you a live within 20 miles so no probs but have occasionally ordered off there website and its always been superb service .

My thinking is:

- internet tackle/tying material retailers in general make more mistakes with my orders than any other internet retail sector I've encountered.

- GAC have made the highest percentage of mistakes in my orders when compared to other tackle retailers. They get it right, say, 80-90% of the time.

- But - GAC have been very good about sorting out their mistakes afterwards, and have done it competently and quickly, which is more than can be said for some. On one occasion, they even called me up a couple of months later to let me know the item that had been out of stock was now back in stock and was sitting on the manager's desk, if I wanted it. Pretty good, I'd say.

I will re-order from them, certainly, because I am confident they will correct their mistakes. But the mistakes are still an irritation. I have three localish shops which are my first ports of call. GAC do have a massive range though and it tempts me back.
