Default JMC Triumph Rods

Anyone fished the 11 3/4 model. Thinking about getting it for christmas and would be used primaraly for french nymphing. Any tips on the rods in general would be great, thanks !

Its a realy sweet range of rods, I havent fish one just wiggle and cast the shorter 10' #2/3 model, would be excellent rod for nymphing. I fish JMC Elite 11'6" #3/4 and a friend of mine fish the Elite 10' #2/3 - we both consider them as the best nymphing rods we know. The Elite is slightly more crisp than the Triumph . These are fine nymphing instruments, even better in real fishing than just wiggling or casting one. The only thing that I like more in the Elite range than in Triumph series is the shape of the grip, the Elite grip somehow fit better in my hand.

I use the 6 foot 4 weight for my small stream fishing and wouldn't exchange it for the world. Really well finished rods, single-foot rings, great cork and it casts a beautiful line with little effort. It also has more than enough backbone to handle large fish. I got it for Christmas a few years back and took it to a small water to try out in January as I couldn't wait for spring to try it out. It handled several fish up to three pounds easily and I then hooked a 72 cm rainbow that lead me a merry dance before I netted it! The only negative thing I've heard on the French forums is that they really argue about the cause of breakage when trying to use the warranty.

Take care

Terry

Hi Spider;

Most French sites will offer these rods. Here are two decent ones:

Moucheonline, le site de rfrence des moucheurs : Vente en ligne de matriel technique pour la pche la mouche en rivire ou la pche la mouche en rservoir. Cannes, moulinets, backing, bas de ligne, mouches, waders, gilets, lunettes polarisantestout lquip

Pche mouche Cannes De Charette - JMC acheter sur Pcheur.com

A lot of French fishermen will say that the Devaux rods are better nymphing rods but I have no experience with them. The one thing I will emphasize with the JMC rods is that the finish is very, very good. My other rod is a 9' 5 wieght Sage FLI and honestly the finish on my Triumph is better.

Take care

Terry
