Default Cutting through the tail bone !

Hi,

Up to now have simply used the gutting / filleting knife but this involves really pressing down on the back of the blade !

I was thinking of something like a cleaver with a rounded blade that could be used with a rocking motion to cut through the bone without having to press on the back of the blade with my other hand?

Does anyone have any ideas or recommendations ?

Nigel

How about good, sharp kitchen scissors/poultry shears. Or a dedicated pair of secateurs (sp?) that might otherwise be used snipping twigs in the garden.

Thats what I'd do so HopeThisHelps,

Regards,
Mike

Mike,

Thanks for that. I hadn't thought of the poultry shears ! If they are designed to cut through chicken bones they should work.

Anyone have any experience of these ?

I use a cleaver. Only got a flat bladed one. A big overhead swing helps.

Well worth having in the kitchen. Use mine all the time.........get a decent pair though, cheapo ones will only frustrate you. If they won't cut thin card cleanly leave them on the shelf..................birdsnest

Another vote for quality poultry shears from me. Invaluable for all sorts of food preparation.
