Default Good Boots for the Bank advise

Looking at getting some warm wellies to wear this winter. I like the look of the LUNE MUCK BOOT as they are short. I have read some reviews saying moisture gets trapped and then makes your feet cold. Anyone used/got any or any advise as to which ones to buy.

I use the hi-cut Muck Boot and love them. That said, yes, your feet can sweat with prolonged use but then I use basic cotton socks so of course they will sweat after a while.

I would imagine that using good wickable socks, wool or similar would work wonders but then I am a cheap barsteward!

I use mine for everything from fishing to walking the dog to traipsing around a boot fair in Winter or when muddy. Had my money's worth out of then several times over and still in great condition!

Ive got a pair of spey muck boot wellies and they are so comfortable and warm. I wear proper wellie socks with them and have never had any issues with trapped moisture.
I sometimes use Jack Pyke countryman boots if i have a lot of walking to do, theyre more supportive than wellies.

All rubber footwear traps mositure. Whether or not that presents a problem depends on if the insulation maintains it's ability to insulate when wet.

Cotton does not, but wool and neoprene do.

As an illustration, the standard procedure for people working outdoors in central Alaska in the winter was to wear US Army surplus "bunny boots". These are rubber boots with a liner consisting of two layers of thick wool seperated by another layer of rubber.

The standard procedure up there is the wear wool socks and before they put the boots on,they dump boiling water inside each boot and drain the excess out. As crazy as this sounds, having the boots start out warmer than your body temp keeps you from freezing your feet, even at -60 F and even though your feet are technically "soaking wet". I've no idea why this works, but it's SOP up there for a whole variety of people who have to be outdoors.

I got a pair of these at half this price from the Trespass shop and they are sooooo comfortable and haven't let any water in at all. They also don't seem to have the problems of trapped moisture associated with rubber boots.

I bought a pair of Rohan waterproof boots from TK Max a couple of years agao. They are very supportive and comfortable.

Wouldn't want to go trekking in them (they aren't particularly breathable) but walking round the bank all day is fine.

TK Max always seem to have a good number of boots of various types - for £20 you can't go wrong (I checked yday actually and they have some different rohan and karrimor boots in stock).
