Default Help needed - Photos of Lake Melvin Trout

Hello

I've had a request for assistance from a writer compiling a book on the distribution of trout across Europe.

He's still missing some images for his book and is looking for photographs of the three trout species (or morphs) of Lake Melvin in Ireland: Sonaghen, Gillaroo, and Ferox.

Any help with photos will be greatly appreciated and I'm sure full credit will be given in the book.

Thanks

I will get the ball rolling,

Here is a Sonaghan, they don't often grow to this size and this beauty was caught in February 09

A more usual size Sonaghan , but a far better looking fish than "his" one

Mayflyjunky & Sweeneytodd - thanks for the photos!

Hopefully we can also get a photo or two of Loch Melvin Ferox and Gillaroo.

I'm going to forward the link to the writer to see if he is interested in any of the photos and I will let you know by PM if he is.

Many thanks and keep the photos coming!

might be worth your while getting in touch with Paulo Prodohl at Queens University Belfast - those guys have done more research on the Melvin trout over the years than anyone so are bound to have some relevant photos.

cheers
Brian

maybe you should check out my blog...I did a write up on Irish trouts, and all I did was Google the specie's name and got pics to go with each one...AW

and by the way to both of the owners of those fish porn...real nice 'male' [the first pic] and a pretty female [from the last pic]...

This site gives a bit of info, although the ferox photo isn't the best.

And whispering in their ears
Give them unquiet dreams;
Leaning softly out
From ferns that drop their tears
Over the young streams.
Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.
