Your question has got me thinking.
Why do you want to be a member of a club?
I aint a member of any club anymore, and to be honest my fishing experience is better without the club outings and regulations.
Drawbacks are I cant enter any of the proper national qualifiers as an individual.
Plus points are I dont have to make time for club outings/meetings.
Reason the question got me thinking, there are tens of thousands of anglers like me, we do it for the being there.
Now what if there was an internet club not associated with any area, where members could fish qualifying competitions local to them, without the time consuming, and often useless meeting of other members at pre ordained times and meeting places?
Alll information would be passed through club web site. Low cost, High value.
I am able and willing to construct such a club.
Just need the impetus of numbers to push it on.
think on
regards
bert

Q 1.Why do you want to be a member of a club?

2.Drawbacks are I cant enter any of the proper national qualifiers as an individual.

A 1. its nice to meet fellow anglers from the same areas that may fish the same waters and share hints on certain ways to fish them.
A 2. some of us like to fish for pleasure without the neeed to compete.

fishytales, i also started a thread on the same topic last week but got very little answers. maybe we need to start our own club just so we can enter some "of the proper national qualifiers"

cheers

bob

Not the be all and end all, but meetings between fellow anglers within said club is a given, on organised outings if required.
As to exchanging advice/technigues/tactics, this is already carried out on forums like this, and would be perpetuated within the clubs web site to the point of secrecy to that site!
The only benefit to registered club members, over and above the obvious sharing of knowledge, and camaradrie, would be the abillity to compete in qualifiers as previously stated, in their own area, river or loch (lake), and indeed own comfort zone, without the obvious need to be nominated by committee!.

i cant speak for fishytales, but i dont want to join a comitte or any other association. all i would like is for a few guys from the same area to meet up now and again for some light hearted banter and a good days fishing.

is that to much?

Plenty clubs in Fife but you haven't said what type of fishing or club you want to join.
Fly, bait, bank, boat, river, loch, own water etc.
