Default Silicone tubing

I have decided to make my own Braided Loops and have ordered some Hollow Braid Backing line for this purpose.Does anyone know what size Silicone tubing I need ? Its far too small for me to measure I'm guessing its around .5mm does that sound about right?

Tony, to be honest I wouldn't use it at all.
I frequently make my own loops, but much prefer to whip then onto the line, instead of the tubing.
It causes hinging IMO, and if you want it to be highly visible, just use a flouro orange thread for the whipping.
A touch of superglue and/or head cement on the whipping, and the jobs a good un.
I have never had a problem with one yet, and it's one less thing to jam in the top eye on the rod.

Yes, this is the way to go, you can start false casting with just your leader out of your tip ring, your line will follow with no obstruction. I don't like fancy colored thread for the whipping I find that the fish very often go for the whipping, however it is a good strike indicator, but I never use them.

This is what you are looking for.

Braid Sleeve - New Micro Type - Tippets Airflo Fishing

You only need to use about 5-10mm depending on what length you feel happy with.

Default Silicone Tubing

Thanks for input.
I am making the braided loops without tubing e.g. I'm
pulling the braid back through on its self using a needle trimming the end and fixing with a dab of super glue.
This all works fine but when I insert the fly line I have a fraying end on the braid that has to be hidden.Thats what I need the tube for. I know I only need a small amount but I don't know the diameter needed.

Yep, thats what the comments above are referring to. Instead of using the tubing to secure the braided loop onto the fly line, whip the frayed ends down with tying thread and cover with a drop of superglue. As mentioned it is the best solution and goes through the rod rings much better than using tubing. Personally I prefer to do away with the braided loop altogether an make a loop out of the fly line core and whip over the end.
