Default Rutland info. required

Have got a few days off work this week and plan on going down to Rutland for some fishing. Will be dropping the better half off @ Ferrybridge services then going on to Rutland Thursday evening. Have booked into the Fox & Hounds at Luffenham. Plan is to have a few bevvies then fish the Friday and Saturday and travel back home. Now, I haven't fished the place since the early 80's so any advice on where to fish/tactics would be appreciated. The forecast for Friday/Saturday is for the weather to warm up a little and for the wind to swing round to the South West, albeit with showers. With this is mind where would you advise fishing and what tactics would be suitable? I will be fishing from the bank.

I fished rutland at the autumn pairs and found lures to be the best on the day for us. Minkies caught them all. The winner fished the bottom end of the southern arm close to the bank from a boat with ginked hoppers and bagged up. Someone said where you fished is more important that what you fish with. He was about 300 ft from the winner and only managed two fish between them.

Fishing the bank? wish you luck. The boat anglers are having by far the best of the sport at the moment with most of the fish coming from the bottm of the south arm on either 'minkies' or 'dries' if conditions are suitable. The pair that won the autumn pairs match fishing over the front did soon tequilla blobs on a fast glass - most of the fish are still full of daphnia.
If I was fishing the bank in a SW wind, I would concentrate from east creek to and through to fantasy island. There are still loads of fish in the basin that just may start to come closer into the bank given the cold weather. N arm along the 'finches' is also worth a go. Try either 'minkies', 'blobs' or dries. Keep moving until you find fish. Best of luck and have a good couple of days.

Thanks Guys, I understand it could well be tough from the bank but I am travelling/fishing by myself and my boat handling skills are not good enough solo. Especially if a breeze picks up.

I fished the bank on Sunday. I worked south from NZ point, did'nt get a pull. Saw one fish taken by a boat angler. I then went up to sailing club where I caught a brownie of about 3lbs to a big black and green booby. Sailing club is stuffed with fry, they were popping out all over the place. Spoke to a warden who said fish had been caught off the south side of the peninsula during the previous week.

I think you would have a better day fishing from a boat, look for a partner on here.
