Default Felt sole help!

My felt sole partly came off from my wading boots yesterday and as one can imagin, made for a difficult (Aka John Cleese) walk never mind the wading!!

What is the best way and glue to use for the repairs? The boots are only a 1 1/2 season old and apart from that are sound, so I would like to fix them to get at least to the end of this season.

Anyone had any success with gluing them back on?

Tried various products in the past and most success for me and standing the test of time was Sticks Like S**t which you can purchase from builders merchants, think it is made by evostick.

Apply to sole then wrap sole tightly to boot with duct tape till cured so it gets a solid bond.

Hope this helps

Pedro

I've tried a range of contact adhesives and they all failed within the first couple of outings. The only one I found to work was Gorilla Glue - Google it to find your nearest distributor.

Default Best thing Iv'e tried

Hi, The best advice I can give is, take them to a cobbler. I tried several times and it just wound me up. I'd think I'd done a good job, but the river said otherwise.

Regards

Stuart

Evostik has worked well for me but I think the secret is to make sure the soles are completely bone dry before sticking them back on.
A few days in the airing cupboard or on top of a radiator is bound to attract the wifes attention and then you can explain how you're actually saving money instead of spending it

Get some coarse thread screws ( of the correct length) like the turbos from Screwfix or self tapping. Drill lots of clearance holes though first layer of felt and carefully tighten.

Should give you another season at least, then bin and buy another pair avoiding the high end sales blurb.
