Malcolm March of Rutland Fly Fishing

I am a full time, professional fly fishing instructor and guide covering the counties of Rutland, Leicestershire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire.

Living by Rutland Water, I specialise in teaching the casts and techniques required for successful reservoir fishing for Trout and Pike.

Increasingly, many of my clients want to improve their distance casting or learn how to cast in rivers or saltwater, in the UK or abroad.

Tuition is friendly and supportive and is always tailored to your needs.

Bookings can be by the hour, day or part day and gift vouchers are available.

For anyone wanting accommodation, I have a 19th century stone cottage available for short breaks and longer holidays.

Fly Fishing for Pike

Catching reservoir Pike on the Fly is becoming increasingly attractive to Fly Fishers and Pike Anglers.
In conjunction with Nigel Savage, one of the countries top Pike fly fisherman, I can now arrange some exciting fly fishing for Pike on Rutland Water and Pitsford Water.
This is testing and challenging fly fishing in Waters holding large fish.

Rutland Water Fly Fishing and Boat Handling Course

With the Rutland Water season starting on 1st April, I am organising half or whole day fly fishing courses covering casting, fishing methods and boat handling( in all weather conditions).

Lessons can be for one or two people and will be tailored to meet their requirements.

The courses are ideally suited to anglers with some fly fishing experience on small waters or rivers who now want to fish a large reservoir like Rutland Water and don't know where to start.

JUNIORS FLY FISHING DAY : RUTLAND WATER 4TH AUGUST

Aimed at novices aged 12 -14 and 15 -17 who want an introduction to fly fishing, there are still a few vacancies left in this friendly boat competition. No previous fly fishing experience is required as Rutland Water Fly Fishers are trying to introduce newcomers into the sport.

The entry fee is just £10 and includes tackle hire, fishing permit, boat hire, boatman, casting tuition and after-match food.

The day will start at 11am and finish at 7 30 pm with a barbecue.

Entry is on a first come first served basis, so if you know of any youngster ( male or female ) who may be interested, let them know.

Rutland Youth Fly Fishing Day : 22 July 2012

This day will be for 10 to 17 year olds and for all abilities from beginners to more experienced young people.
I'm the event manager and will be running it with Jeremy Ball, Matt Gregory and Chris Evans from Rutland Water Fly Fishers.
There will be morning activities and afternoon boat fishing on Rutland Water, and the emphasis will be on enjoyment rather than competition. Anglian Water have generously made 65 boats available.
More details and application forms will appear in the months ahead, but getting boatmen for the day will be crucial.
If you can help out as a boatman, please let me know at malcolm@rutlandflyfishing.com You don't need to be an expert, just someone who can handle a boat and enjoy taking out one or two young people and showing them what to do.
