Nice SBS. I might give it a go. I don't have red floss, but can I use a big bunch of red feathers for the tag and clip them?

Will have to give that a go when my new midge cape arrives, looks like that pattern coule be easily adapted for aphid feeders etc...

RW informed me about this excellent fly a few seasons ago and after great success, I explored similar patterns. As a result I now also use Bradshaw's Fancy and Treacle Parkin to good effect for grayling as well.

Cheers RW

I'm fishing the Wye with Royvs this w/e so I thought I'd tie a few of these to try. Excellent SBS - many thanks.

An excellent fly for grayling and also one that has taken many a brownie for me to. The red tag / treacle parkin / sturdys fancy are all excellent flies and are very very popular with the river anglers around here , Another fly that is more common around these parts and follows in a similar mould is the John Storey I use them a lot for Grayling and think that the advance wing makes them a bit more visible if the water is a little coloured....

and Polly I actually use fine red wool for the tags on mine...

There was an SBS for the John Storey but it seems to have disappeared - what is the wing?
