I apologise for the poor quality but I have just had a motorbike accident and my right arm is not what it used to be! I should have used a bigger hook size to make it easier as well!

This is the original John White tying of the Sparkly Kate from which the other tying was derived. He could tie these down to size 14 with no effort!



Materials:-

Hook - Captain Hamilton International CS7 size 12
Thread - Fine black (I no longer have any Danville monocord black left!)
Tail - 4 strands of Flashabou overlaid with fluo green antron wool
Rib - Single strand from medium pearl mylar tubing
Dubbing - Black antron or seals fur
Palmer hackle - Black cock hackle
Front hackle - Red game cock hackle
Head - Hawkes & Black gold tape, you could use a small gold bead if you like and save all the kerfuffle with the taping of the head but this is the original dressing

Lay up touching turns of thread to above hook point



Tie in 4 strands of pearl flashabou



Then tie in the fluo green antron



Trim both to length you require and then tie in a single strand of mylar from medium pearl tubing



Dub onto the thread either black seals fur or black antron dubbing



Make a slim body up to a point behind the eye - you need a bit of room there!



Tie in your black cock palmering hackle



Wind evenly spaced turns towards the tail and hold onto the hackle pliers with your left hand and run the rib in the opposite direction to the head after 2 turns over the end of the hackle and secure. Trim off the hackle and the rib



Tie in the red game hackle and make a couple of turns and tie in keeping some space between the hackle and the head. Whip finish and cut the thread




Apply varnish or SHHAN to the thread and get ready with the gold tape or mylar if you prefer



Here you need 2 sets of hackle piers, hold one end of the tape in one set and the other end in the other set. While the varnish or SHHAN is still wet let one set of hackle pliers hang over the head. Put a small drop of varnish or SHHAN on top of the gold tape and then wind the other set of hackle pliers around the head



Apply a little varnish or SHHAN over the gold tape again and let the pliers hang until it has set



Cut close to the head and tidy up if needed before varnishing a final coat on the head
My apologies for the roughness of the fly but be assured that even dressed like this it will catch both browns and rainbows.

I can hardly lift my arm up level with my shoulder at the moment but I am determined that it will work again this week!

I was hit with Tennis Elbow last March and it is still painfull now? so I can understand what your going through, but I have learnt how to cast (of sorts ) with my left arm? dont know if this would be an option for you?
