Default Duffer's Delight

This one was working on the Avon this week.
Hook: TMC 200R #12
Thread: Gordon Griffiths 8/0
Tail: 3 black deer hairs
Rib: Pearl
Wing: White calf tail
Hackle: Cree

Start thread off and run half way down the hook, come back to wing position and tie in a small pinch of calf tail.

Cut and taper butts.
Click the image to open in full size.

Build a thread bump to raise wing.
Click the image to open in full size.

Run thread to barb and tie in tail.
Click the image to open in full size.

Tie in rib.
Click the image to open in full size.

Take a good pinch of Hare's mask from the cheeks, you want the light tan stuff.
Click the image to open in full size.

Split thread and insert dubbing.
Click the image to open in full size.

Spin to make a spiky dubbing rope.
Click the image to open in full size.

Wind body to wing and rib.
Click the image to open in full size.

Tie in hackle and put 3 turns before the wing and 2 turns after, whip finish.

It's a new one, the old one had bits of the Liffey over the sensor.

Shame I only tied two of them and they were both given as offerings to the tree gods.

Dubbing with a hares mask looks like its neat and tidy.

I must get one, any recomendations on where to buy one?

Trout, any shop that stocks fly tying materials will have them in.

Just had a message from my chief tester, the pattern is still working well.
