Default Pattern ?

Which insect is this fly suppose to imitate?

My former employee gave me a boxful of flies his 82 year old grandpa tied. Some of those flies are so tiny I can't even get them out of the box without grabbing 2 or 3 at the same time.
This fly was the biggest one and the only one that brookies wanted. Regardless of how this fly looks to fly fishermen, this was the only fly that just kept catching them and they would not even look at anything else.

Can you name that fly?

Thanks

How about Regular House Fly

Like you say though doesn't matter if there is another fly like it in the real world aslong as the fish like it

Pretty non-specific (hence the drab hares-ear type appearance). Would do a job as a Stonefly, Damsel, or Mayfly nymph, or even a sedge pupa.

Thanks for the replies.
There were three variations in the box. All same size but one looked like a typical Kaufmann's stone fly, the one in the picture had the tail "missing" and the actual fly I was using (which was eaten by a huge tree trout) had no tail and no antennas. Almost looked like a pheasant tail with no tail.
Regardless, those brookies sure found it appetizing.
