Oh, that looks effective. I don't have the orange holo tinsel but I think I might have to try that with blue and see how it looks

Good video, very helpful, but I have a question. . .
In the vid he was using herls from the eye part of the feather. I don't have any of these, but I do have a pack of Veniards peacock herl (Tied together in a bundle).
Is it the same stuff?
Sorry for my ignorance...
Thank you,
Gary

It's the same stuff but not really any good.

You need to use the eyes, as only the areas around the eye have the broad shape with distinct banding that you require.
There might be a few within your bundle but it may be like looking for a needle in a haystack!
Getting a peacock eye will be a nice small investment and show you how herl differs from it's location on the feather.

Ok, thanks for that.
It was the banding which prompted me to ask, as I don't see it on the bunch of herles which I have.
I will buy myself a couple of eyes now.
Thanks again for your advice.
Gary.

Was up at GAC today and had a chat with Davie and stripping peacock herls came up. As he says on the video he uses an old rubber he got from a corn flakes pack years ago but what he did say was make sure you keep cleaning the rubber when using it as this makes a big difference.
